Struggle made us

About US

Mission Statement:

“Through our struggles we can find our strength to help each other and build up our communities.”

Our Vision:

Struggle Made Us connects underserved communities with resources that support transforming surviving into thriving. We use our curriculums to assist communities to heal deep-rooted issues. Through mentoring we connect youth with those from the community who have found ways to attain success while navigating all the stresses of life.

We work with families to operationalize the slogan, “It takes a Village.” We educate youth and adults by using in- house providers to teach communities about financial literacy and goals.

We support the community with wellness workshops that will include nutrition education and exercise classes.

Our commitment is to ensure our services are ready and available for families needs. We are an organization that works inside our communities with our feet on the ground. We build the kind of rapport that sets up the foundation of success.

Struggle university

.

Struggle University was created to serve as a safe space for Men and Boys of color to learn how to process their emotions in a healthy and supportive environment. In order to accomplish this, we want to guarantee that all participants feel heard, affirmed, and welcomed into this space. Struggle University stands by its core values of accountability, self-awareness, renewal, and inclusion. In order to maintain these values, Struggle University believes in affirming the whole human and the intersection of each participant’s identity.

Graduation

The Follow Up

Once a week there will be a motivational text message and challenges sent to the cohorts.

After graduation, participants will have the opportunity to be trained to become facilitators to ensure that we can run multiple cohorts at the same time to extend the work.

Twice a year we will gather for a meal/ ceremony so that each cohort can meet each other. We will do a mental health check, fellowship, network, build community, and have an open forum to address community needs.
